Split Posts
Newcastle, mark mCclelland
This was my first commissioned public artwork. I created fifteen individual pieces, inspired by the timber split posts in the original fence-line, and ran them along the five hundred metre front boundary of the development. This contained a beautiful irony as one of my first jobs was as a rural fencing contractor. The work also had a wayfinding component. As my first commissioned public artwork, this project really began my thinking about the role of art in public space.
